Labor day weekend

Donna and I had a great weekend.

Labor day is celebrated at the first Monday each Sept, announcing officially
the end of the summer season. At least, this is what I believe?

We had a playful time with our grandkids Jacob & Luke, who spend
Friday and Sunday night at our house.
Friday night we played Russian Rummy with Windy and Brian and finally
I was able to win one after losing in that game the past 4 to 6 Months.

Saturday late afternoon Windy and Brian came to pick up the boys
and they brought some sushi with them, which we enjoyed tremendously.

Gina & Daniel came over Sunday afternoon and brought a nice piece
of flank steak with them. Marinated and grilled, together with some
pork chops and Brats from the swiss butchershop in Herman,
fresh cole slaw and baked potatoes complimented the traditional
labor day cookout dinner.  It was delicious!

Gina, Daniel, Windy, Brian, Donna, myself and the kids enjoyed
the food and of course a few to many cocktails. We all watched
the Atlanta Nascar race. Like I said, to many rum and cokes to
remember who won?

Gina and Daniel left a bit early, because Daniel did not feel 100%.
I just leave it at that.

Monday, Labor Day itself, I called for tee time at the Berry Hill Country Club
for 8 people at 1:00 PM for all of us plus our friends Eric & Karla.
Windy and Brian could not find a babysitter and had to stay at home.
That left Donna and I playing a twosome in front of Gina, Karla, Daniel and Eric.
It was perfect weather and we had a ball. The only mistake was
that I actually lost to Donna, and I still hear about it.
I tried to find a legitimate excuse for this without success.
Donna was just plain better and even surprised herself, because it was
only like her 4th time playing golf this year. Being hangover and
having a 6-pack of bud light in the cooler did not helped to improve my game.

That night we went to bed early, tired but satisfied and happy
after a joyful weekend with family and friends.

Memorable Moments

Not much has happened the last few weeks around here, except some little things worth telling
and one gigantic thing that will blow normal peoples mind!!

To start with, last week I received my delivery of swiss made Cervelat, Landjager, Mettwurst and plenty of Thomy Senf. I sure will enjoy this special threat.
I am planning to have a "Waldfest" for lunch today.

A " Waldfest" is a simple peeled cervelat served cold
with some fresh french bread and Thomy Senf

Furthermore, since I have the good mustard I can make the real Montricher salad dressing.
Of course the following recipe works fine with French`s yellow mustard.

MONTRICHER DRESSING
(Quantity for 1 bowl of salad)
1  small diced onion
3  cloves peeled, chopped garlic
1  tsp maggi seasoning
3  tbl yellow mustard
3  oz  white vinegar
½  fresh lemon juice
salt, pepper and aromat to taste
 *
1oz vegetable oil
Mix all ingredients in a bowl except oil.
Wisk in oil slowly.
This was the original dressing I was using in all the hotels I worked at. Very popular with all the costumers, but since most dressings here in America are creamy, (ranch, blue cheese, french, thousand island, etc) I needed to develop a Creamy Montricher. Here it is:

CREAMY MONTRICHER DRESSING

1  small diced onion
4  cloves peeled garlic
1  tbs maggi seasoning
3  tbs yellow mustard
1  each whole egg
5  oz  white vinegar
½  fresh lemon juice
salt, pepper and aromat to  taste
*********
App. 2 ½ cup vegetable oil

But all ingredients except the oil in a blender.
Blend well and add oil slowly until dressing becomes
thick and creamy.

All the ingredients for the Creamy Montricher Dressing

The finished product

Enough food for today, lets go to the terrifying story about the flying dog.

Donna and I were sitting outside on the deck having a glass of wine
with Teddy sleeping by our feet. He must have turned the wrong way
when he woke up, because he slipped through the rail and fell 10 feet to the ground.
He landed with a little yelp, which made us realize what happened.
I ran downstairs and carried him back up. Donna and I checked him
out and found absolutely nothing wrong with him.
He is over 17 year old (120 in human years) and still going strong.!!

Super Teddy

And now the blow your mind thing.

We celebrated Brian’s birthday the other day with a pool party in Daniel and Gina’s house. Guess what, Brian drove to the party in his brand new birthday gift from his father.
