UNEXPECTED LIFE SCARE

It is now 4 weeks since I last visited my blog. Not because there was nothing going on in the Ackermann household, the reason is simple, there was something much more important on my mind.

Just 2 months ago Donna and I celebrated 25 year of marriage, but been together since 1977, a total of 34 years. We are not rich but not poor either. We have a great family and are very happy. I believe our best and most important asset is our health.

It hit us quiet by surprise when 4 weeks ago Donna's occasional pain in her stomach was analyzed as a sizable cyst in her lower stomach.

My job was being very optimistic in the presence of Donna and keep my worries for my self. ( it was not easy)

Potentially this could lead to major lifestyle change. The BIG questions was , is this growth cancerous? Even after seeing 2 cancer specialist we had no answer.  It only could be analyzed after it was removed.

On Thursday, April 7th I drove Donna to St. Luke Cancer Center. She was scheduled for Operation at
9:30am. I was directed to a waiting room with a big screen telling me the progress of patient # 6034 (Donna) A good thing was, Windy was joining me.

Beside reading old magazines we checked the big screen every 2 minutes and 40 seconds or so it seemed.

10:30 In OP Room
10:59 Procedure begins
12:06 Procedure ended
12:10 recovery room

Pretty good TV Program, don't you think so !
Finally at 1:15 pm Dr Xynos, a teaching doctor at USL and cancer specialist, came to see me in the waiting room.
Great news the operation went fine and there was absolutely no Cancer detected !!! Time for Celebration. AT 3:15 we visited Donna in her room and she was on the road to recovery.

Shortly after operation

First day at home

Fast recovery

Everything went fast from here on. Saturday, 2 days after the operation I could take her home. I believe, my great care and food accelerated the recovery and she was actually able to start work yesterday, only 19 days after the operation.         Superwoman!!

On to other news,
we had more tornadoes around here in April this year than in the last 10 years together. There was a lot of damage and thankfully we are not included. Daniel and Gina's house got some damage but minor compared to people around them.
This tree cut off there garage entrance

Some damage to their back deck

They were with out power for a couple of days and hung around with us over Easter.

Also Brian, Windy, Jacob and Luke visited us for Easter and I prepared roasted leg of lamb for the first time for them. It was not very successful, only Brian and myself loved it. O well, everybody else are picky eaters.

They liked the strawberry cake better than my leg of lamb
