There should be no difference from other years, my birthday parties were always extended to two, three weeks or even a month. Everything started while having a celebration of my 69th birthday on Saturday, September 29th. Everybody met in our house that afternoon. Daniel and Gina brought lots of carnitas and all the trimmings for it and Windy brought a Birthday cake and some munchies.
Following are pictures of my official Birthday party. I was very happy. Besides enjoying the company, the great dinner and my Bacardi and coke, I also received some great gifts.
Why I call it a celebration downer? I can explain, but wait, I am getting ahead of myself.
Not bad for 69 Year old
Es Proestli to Donna, Family, and all my Friend's
She is the reason why I still feel young
Daniel and Gina arrived with the food
Sara and Nicolas came to help me Celebrate
So is Karla
Gina in her final stage to give birth to our Grandchild
but still in Party mood
Joe is happy as usual
Brian honored us with his presence
Daniel is unsuccessful trying to scare Eric
Our daughter Windy brought me a cake
Luke and Jacob worrying that Daniel
is not able to fix the baby's chair
Nicolas and Nitro are wondering
about that other chair
It looks like I had Daniel's and Gina's attention
Daniel, not giving up that fast, is trying to fix
the swing for our future grand child
Not even Eric's expertise would help
Enjoying my carnitas
The Main event ! Luck helped me with the presents
They got this right, not quit 70 yet!!
I had a beautiful evening
When ever some explanation is needed, Eric is the expert.
YOLO -- You Only Live One's.
We kind of live with that motto
One of my favorite shirt right now
Luke and I try hard to win the Lottery
I love ice cream cake
I made my wish
I guess it's Nicolas bed time.
Everybody left pretty much after the Lombardo's.
The Downer:
As usual we had some events planed tying in with my birthday, after all my real birthday falls on a Monday October 1st this year, and we had tee time at 9 am at Florissant Country club. Eric, Daniel, Donna and myself arrived about 15 minutes early to check-in and warm up before teeing off on the first hole. We played best ball. Donna and I was one team and Eric and Daniel the other. It was a beautiful morning and believe it or not Donna and I managed to start with a birdy on the par 4 first hole.
Second hole, an other par 4, my tee shot was real disappointing, it went far but with a huge slice to the right and stopped out of bounds on the bottom of small hill. So I had to count with Donna's shot (she is good and seldom disappoints me). While she had to wait for her turn, I jumped in the golf cart and proceeded to retrieve my ball down the hill. Now the grass was wet from the morning dew and since I went a little to fast I stepped on the break and at that moment the breaks locked up on me and the golf cart turned 90 degrees and turned on its side with me in it.
It was right by the cart path and my head hit the concrete first and then the Golf carts roof.
Needless to say golf was over for the day. Donna and I spent the next 6 hours in the emergency room at the worst possible hospital. After 18 staples and loss of 2 pints of blood we finally could go home.
Of course my after golf party was canceled and everything else pertaining to my birthday.
What a Downer!
It would probably hurt with out my vicodins.
just another look
the bruising showed up after 2 days
