THE DAY AFTER

Only 12 hours after Tony left us it finally started snowing heavily for the first time this winter.  Personally I love snow, but in general, the population here hate snow and everything shuts down, like schools, businesses, garbage pickup, the post office and even the TV program changes!
So Donna and I were cocooned in our home and took the occasion to do a little remodeling. We made a new guest room on the main floor and moved the kids room downstairs.
Just to insert a remark to this, we always had  one great guest room, but the last 6 years the occupancy reached only about 4% annually, meaning, a little more than a week in a whole year!

Now, since we love having family and friends here, we added another guest room in the hope we will improve the chance to see more of our friends and family. I even hope for some day my beloved family from Switzerland would come to see us. Don't forget YOLO. (you only live once)

I love when everything gets white

The first great snow this winter

I don't think I will clean my drive way
It looks to nice

Our simple but nice new guest room

Small but cozy

Hopefully somebody will come to try it out!

The new downstairs kids room

They will have plenty of room, beside they are much bigger now too.

This corner is more like for me and Donna.

When  Donna could go back to work I had to find some projects on my own and I had no problems to find some.

Bare Brutens
I made 2 dozens Bare bruten for Nancy, one of Donna's co-workers

I love my apron

Refrigerator spring cleaning

Shelf-less and detailed.

Food to be organized

Ready to be refilled.

The big bang theory
Science Project

Playing with Donna's months old birthday balloon,
I had the balloon floating in the house at this height for two and a have day

Every few hours I had to cut the tape a little bit.
I thought I share that because it was kind of fun and was definitely better
tan watching Roger Federer loosing in Tennis, lately he is looking
weaker, slower and not very interested in winning.
I guess we super fans have to let go.  At least he has given us
awesome Ten years!!

SURPRISE VISIT

It is already a month since my last blog entry.  The time passes so fast for me, because a lot happened in the last 40 days. Actually it was an exciting February for Donna and me, but first  all about my surprise visit.

On Wednesday, January 27th I was informed to pick up Tony Lucero from the airport the next day at 1:30 pm. Since we barely have visitors from out of the state, it was a special treat to have Tony here for a short weekend! It was a great surprise and we had a fantastic time.

Tony arriving at the Lambert international Airport in St Louis.

First things first, Tony is teaching me how to make a perfect
"Bacardi, soda with a splash of diet coke" drink.

This drink is very refreshing and is Donna's and my favorites ever since.
I fixed a few that night under the watchful eye of the teacher!

Since I had not much time with planing we had to munch on
Carnitas with  tortillas, salsa, guacamole, and sour cream.

I just received a new phone and Tony helped me set it up.

As you see we had a great time

I guess the Bacardi got a little bit out of hand!

St Louis is the proud owner of a tiny Ski area, I would call it a large bunny hill,
only about halve hour from our house. There are 2 ski lifts and also ski rental.
On Friday Tony and I went to check it out

We did not bring the right clothing to go skiing or make a few runs.

Actually it looked much better that I remembered.

Since we could not ski and also the bar was closed (to early)
We decided to try to break the bank in the nearest Casino,
The Ameristar in St Charles.

That night we had quit a good dinner, starting with
Lobster bisque
Montricher salad
and
Giant broiled pork chops

Recuperating from a busy Friday

we had beautiful sunny weather on Saturday

and as always the time went to fast and Tony had to return to Florida
that evening.
Tony, thank you for coming to see us. We had a great time!
