TRULY THANKFUL

Thinking back on April 27th when my unfortunate accident happened I realize how lucky I am to have Donna and be surrounded by my family, friends and neighbors. I did not expect to be so helpless for over 6 weeks and not be able to walk.
I spent 6 Weeks on this couch starting May 4th

This nice orange cast I had exactly 6 weeks

On June 21 I changed in this boot caring this until July 28.
With this boot I was able to walk slow and carefully and start some light duty around the house.

This was the last day in my boot !!
Now I am wearing only a small protection strap for my ankle.

Donna had to take over everything I used to do and much more like taking care of all my extra needs. It was so nice to see Daniel, Gina, Brian and Windy to help out and even Eric was on standby to help out. Our great neighbors also helped out with the grass cutting and kept an eye on me.

Donna had to dig out some old recipe and spend time in the kitchen
to take care of our food needs.
I was surprise with the excellent food she came up with.
Here are just a few picture

Grouper with shrimp, rice, mixed veggie and cream sauce.

My favorite, steak and salad

Pork steak with beans and Broccoli, cauliflower mornay

Grilled salmon with caper sauce Green beans and boiled potatoes

Sauteed flounder with spicy fresh tomatoes
boiled potatoes and butter beans

and lots more I don't have pictures of.

Like I said, yard work had to be done.

It looks like Donna seems to enjoy her new job

On the lower level she had to be careful not mowing down my bamboo

Ed, my neighbor brought over his tractor a few times

Brian was weeding the hill while Windy cut the grass one day.

Daniel of course came by a few times and helped out,
so did the other neighbors, Mike and Frank.  They took their turn a couple of times
and as appreciation I baked them a big Swiss Zopf with some
homemade blackberry jam that Donna had picked and I made.

I was very happy when I started to be able to move around a little bit
My first attempt back in the kitchen

Saute some Italian sausage for the topping

Prepping the pizza

Ready to get backed

Yummy, just like Imos

Beside helping out we had lots of visits and well wishers. Of course,
it was always such a great feeling to see the grand kids, I think my ankle was heeling so much faster.

Great time

At this time Donna and I would like to take the opportunity to thank everyone for their help.

HELLO, I AM BACK !

It's been months since I visited this sight. It really feels wonderful finally to walk the steps again. To clarify , it was exactly  3 months and 3 days ago since my unfortunate accident. An that unlucky Friday May 3, in my slightly incapacitated condition I took my buddy Nitro out to do his business before turning in to bed for the night.  It was 10:30 pm and still raining,  actually it rained all day and it was real soft ground around my house. I was only out for a few minutes before I slipped and fall over a drain pipe. Unfortunately I broke my leg and ankle.  Donna with the help of Daniel rushed me to the emergency room. A long story short, 5 days later I needed an operation to straighten out my ankle and insert a 4 inch metal plate to hold my leg and ankle together.A nice orange cast came 10 days later. That cast was cut on June 12 and I started to get around in a walking boot.
I had no idea that this little accident will take that long. I am still wearing a special brace on my foot and I am still going twice a week to therapy.
Here is the reason why my blog was silent for 3 Months.

This stairs were in the way to get to my office in the Basement

Its good to be back

I plan on continuing to blog as often as possible to catch up.  Thanks to everyone who sent get well wishes and who missed my blog, that is why I do it.

MARCH MADNESS

Every year, in the last two weeks in march, they try to determine who is the best college Basketball team in the USA. They call it March madness.

I call it March madness because there were lots of activities every day in this month.  First of all it was our 27th Anniversary  on the 6th. and Donna and I celebrated with a delicious dinner and a tasty bottle of Chateau Ste Michelle.

I hope we have many more days like that.

We love our Mussel "mariniere".

3 days after,  Gina organized a get together for the family and friends on the 9th, Daniel purchased a fabulous Prime rib and I prepared the rest, so everybody could enjoy a great dinner before playing cards.

I think they waiting for the chocolate cake to be served.

All the woman's getting ready to beat the men in cards

I got distracted by Nitro

Windy and Brian enjoying the night.

I like when my daughter in law is nice to me.

Nice picture of Karla and Eric and great T-shirt

All that concentrating did not helped,
we still lost against the Girls!

Every few days in March we got blessed with the presence of Eliana, because Daniel and Gina are trying to sell the old house and to do that they had some showings where they could not be present, so they came to visit us. It was always a great and happy time.

Eliana Time

We even had a lunch date

Here we go a few days later, St Patrick day, another party at the house with all the grand kids!!
Luke and Nitro cuddle with Grandma

The video game genius!

Luke is learning

A true Irish spirit.

A rare occasion!!
Grandma with all the grand kits.

On palm Sunday, the 24th, comes the big surprise. The second biggest snow storm in St Louis ever. In less than 6 hours, we had 13 inch of snow. It was beautiful and I loved it.

In 2 hours the driveway disappeared

The birds are begging for food

Donna is spoiling the birds!

A good old fashion raclette is perfect for this snow day.

13 inches by nightfall!

And now the biggest news of the Month :

Daniel and Gina bought a new House in the county

The house is in Defiance, MO. It is more like a mansion with swimming pool and lots of land.
and there are ready to move in the first of April. So end of this month Donna and I where exited to go help them cleaning and get the house ready for the move.
The help is arriving

and a close up.

The proud owner

Relaxing after a long day

We are both ready to go to sleep after all that country air

As you see, March was a busy month for us.  There was a lot more I don't have pictures of such as:
We attended a Jazz concert with Windy, Brian, Jacob and Luke at Lindenwood on March 22, dinner first and ice cream afterwards...yum.
Jacob and Luke stayed over two nights over in March which was crazy and wonderful.

Coming soon:
Easter and all that wonderful madness to end March
