Not that we need one, but the excuse for this weekend getaway was because Tony's and my birthday are only 10 days apart and so we decided to
get together and celebrate. Since we live 900 miles apart we decided to meet half way. Tony and Amy found this nice 3 bedroom mountain cabin, near a touristic German town in the smokey mountains in Georgia about 2 hours from Atlanta.
3 bedroom lodge in the middle of the forest
Tony and Amy arrived there last Wednesday and Donna and I
left Thursday morning at 2:30 am to join them in the hideaway after a beautiful 11 hour drive. Specially the last part of the drive, on the mountains roads with all the
autumn colors was sensational.
We where greeted by Lola and Tahyo like old friends and Tony fixed us all up with cocktails before we even got settled in. From that moment on, as long I was in that cabin, I had always a Bacardi and Coke in my hand. We had a great afternoon, exploring the house and the surroundings and sharing all the news of our lives.
Perfect day to be outside

Later that afternoon Donna and Amy went to Helen with the Dogs to some kind of park with a river to let them have fun, while Tony and I played 18 hole Golf at Augusta.

Later Toni fixed some dinner and I helped a little bit.
Tony in action preparing dinner
I had to take care of the grilled cervelats, of course with Bacardi in hand
After a great dinner we all took the dogs for a walk through the woods hoping to see a bear, but we had no such luck. I am not kidding, Tony had a encounter with one the night before.

They had a lot of fun

Friday we woke up to an other glorious day in the 70 and no cloud's in sight. After breakfast prepared by who else but Tony, consisting of fresh fruit, berry's, croissants, fried fleischkase, eggs, cervelat, mettwurst, butter, marmalade and lots of fresh coffee, we drove down to Helen, parked the car and checked out every shop in town, specially the bakery and German gourmet shop's, where we purchased soup packets, sausages, cheeses, chocolates, cookies, etc, etc.

( in my opinion, it was not the money worth)
Searching for a good German restaurant
The luncheon in a German restaurant (can't remember the name) was delightful and surprisingly German not just German style. I really liked it.

( Champagne for some Mimosa in the morning)
Back home we relaxed the rest of the afternoon and of course we also had to take advantage of having a Jacuzzi on the back porch. We also played pool, the Wii, walked the dogs and not to mention having lots of cocktails.
Looks like good life
Even Tahyo made an attempt to join us

I look kind of lost.
but Tony took up the slack with his little stick
Saturday morning we enjoyed another great breakfast and past the morning a relaxing way while we waited for Tony and Amy's friend and
neighbor Anita to arrive. The women then left for another shopping trip. Tony and I played some more golf, had some cocktails and later Tony had to fix lunch for the lady's. The rest of the day we hang around the cabin and for our last dinner in the mountain we had cheese fondue.

Last walk before leaving the Mountain
Donna and I left Sunday morning at 8:00am central time and arrived in St Charles MO at 5:45 pm safe and sound. As always we had a fabulous time being with the Lucero's. I can't wait for the next time.
