HAPPY MEMORIES

It is already one year since Donna and I spent 4 weeks in Switzerland having one of the greatest vacation ever. Since I reported day by day action from that time in this blog, we can now reminisce about all the happy days we spent over there and, for example, a year ago today I served Donna for the first time some Oxtail soup up in the mountains and she really liked it. So today I fixed some great oxtail soup again. Like I stated “Happy Memories”. Recipe available on request.

To get back to reality, this September went by very quickly and we also had quit a few exiting days. Starting with an unexpected party getting out of hand.  I am saying unexpected because there was no reason to celebrate anything.  That Saturday morning Eric, Daniel, Donna and myself had tee time at 9:30am at New Melle golf course and we finished playing at 11:30am after 9 holes. It was a gorgeous sunny day and we settled for a couple of Bud lights outside at the patio of the club house before I drove everybody to our home. Then, for some unknown reason we all started drinking our traditional cocktail, Bacardi and coke. (Cuba libre with out the lime) The wife's of Daniel and Eric, Gina and Karla came to join us. I raided my freezer and cooked us over 80 hot chicken wings with celery and blue cheese dressing. 3 hours into our little party thing went really out of hand since all the boys decided to test some Junior Johnson Apple pie Moonshine. Needless to say, we had to call the conclusion of the party by 7o'clock that night.

The party is about to end
Who is comforting who

Eric is not helping

Even Nitro got in to it

We also had the privilege to babysit our grandchildren, Jacob and Luke, on 3 different weekends this months. With the help of the Wii and the PC it is relaxing and joyful having them over night, except now, they are getting more critical on the food I am serving. I can not fool them no more with calling fettuccine Alfredo “Kung Fu Noodles” .They don't believe me anymore. I think they grew up way to fast.

Its not easy to play horsey at my age

But I have to do that quit often

Swiss famous plum pie ( Zwechgen Kuchen)
I got the recipe from my sister in law Andreas and it is delicious
The American people don't seme to like it very much especially kids, so every time I make it
I have to eat it myself

Last Friday we attended a trivia night, a fund raiser for the kids Martial art classes. We all brought some snacks and participated in all kind of games and lotteries. The trivia itself went as expected and we ended in the top 10 of all the teams. Personally I ended up being the clown in front of 200 people, winning a game called “heads or tails”. We all had great fun.

Last but not least, at 8:00am the next morning after trivia night, Donna, Gina, Daniel, Nitro and myself participated in a 5K walk fundraiser for the rotary club of Saint Peters. This is the first time in my life I participated in a 5K and I had no problems. I believe I could easily improve my time

In two days, October 1st will by my Birthday. I am looking forward to our little family gathering. I remember the great time we had last year in Neerach, Switzerland. We celebrated with a awesome dinner and afterward visiting the cow bar.
